Top 10 Plant Based Fresh Soups in Waitrose

It's incredible how fast changes are happening. Only a year or two ago it would have been challenging to find any plant based soups in the fresh soup aisle. Now, there's choice! But which ones are the best for our health?
Looking at the ingredients of fresh soup is always a bit of a surprise - the amount of dairy is shocking. However, I was amazed to find about twenty plant based fresh soups on the Waitrose website, so to find my top ten I devised a point-scoring system:Points for range of vegetables (variety is good)
Extra points for cruciferous veg
Points for wholegrains and pulses/beans
Points for spices and herbs
Negative points for added salt
Negative points for added oil
Negative points for added sugar
Negative points for any refined or processed ingredients or 'food particles'
Here are the results:
1
BOL Sweet Potato & Cauliflower Soup
2
New Covent Garden Buckwheat & Bean Ribolita Nutri Soup
3
Yorkshire Provender Rustic Vegetable Broth
4
Waitrose Vegan Green Vegetables & Grains
5
Glorious! Bangalore Lentil Daal
6
Yorkshire Provender Sweet Potato & Lentil Dahl
7
Waitrose minestrone soup
8
Waitrose Vegan Sweet Potato & Coconut Soup
9
Waitrose Vegan Roasted Tomato, Bean & Quinoa Soup
10
Yorkshire Provender Moroccan Vegetable Tagine
Of course, I haven't yet tasted all of these - it would be interesting to add a taste comparison at some stage. I have just eaten the Glorious Bangalore Daal - it was nice but has left me still hungry as it's so low in calories. More chickpeas and lentils would be an improvement.
PS: Do please check ingredients for yourselves as companies change recipes without warning and might sneak some cream in!
